Windows XP is Still the Most Popular Operating System in the World

Are you a Windows XP user? Maybe you are think, the most popular operating system is Windows Vista or Windows 7, the fact, the most popular operating system in the world was still held by Windows XP. From the data expressed by web analytics company Net Applications, Windows XP have 42.86 percent market share in July 2012.

It is quite fantastic. Remembering this operating system has old more than 10 years and still a popular choice for computer users in the world. Meanwhile, Windows 7 was in second place with percentage 42.21 percent.

That number had increased drastically over the past year. In July 2011, Windows 7 have portion about 18.4 percent of market share, whereas Windows XP dominates with percentage 52 percent. Although it is still dominant, Microsoft plans to no longer support Windows XP in April 2014.


Meanwhile the Apple Operating System, Mac OS X only gained a share about 7 percent. These are certainly much when compared with Microsoft’s proprietary OS. However, compared to last year, that number had increased in the past year, since the percentage of users of the Mc OS X is less than 6 percent.
